How did your childhood shape you?

By Paul Craft

Addictions can be crippling......... so whether it is 'facebook', (oh the irony) your phone, social media, internet porn or substance abuse, help is here.  All addictions have root causes and most of the time we are completely unaware of the why's and wherefore's.  Perhaps there are repressed memories from unresolved events from the past, or your beliefs are inconsistent with the truth.  Maybe you are unable to cope with your current environment;  whatever the reason, these cause emotional imbalance and even a chemical imbalance.  Both are treatable, as are all addictions once the underlying problem has been resolved.

Much of our behaviour is shaped by our childhood.  In fact, the unconscious mind is still a child, and arguably all of our emotions, which are initiated in the unconscious, are simply childish reactions to events that remind us childhood events.  Unlocking the repressed memories and supporting the inner child leads to freedom and understanding. Freedom from addiction and understanding that we are not to blame.

"For many, negative thinking is a habit, which over time, becomes an addiction... A lot of people suffer from this disease because negative thinking is addictive to each of the Big Three -- the mind, the body, and the emotions. If one doesn't get you, the others are waiting in the wings."--Peter McWilliams
